in a nutshell…
I love hellos! :) My cousin, her husband, and her daughter came to spend a good ten days with my family. It was special because we don’t always see them since they’re based in the Philippines, and spend most of their time in the East Coast when in the US. For ten days, I let them take over my bedroom, and Sab (the daughter) was not shy about scavenging through my things. Haha. Our days were filled with joys, laughter, stories of the past and present, good vibes, delicious food, and shopping. Before having to take them back to LA, where they’ll spent their last few days before flying, the family went to Disneyland. It was so much fun, and my niece, Kyla, took her revenge on Tower of Terror by braving it her second time around. :P
Another character said his hello on the morning of January 13. He was the second baby whose birth I witnessed; the first was his older sister. There’s something about being present the moment a baby is born. It feels like a natural high, and I’m not even the mother! Perhaps it is because I am not the mother — I don’t feel their physical pain — that it feels great. ;)
On the contrary, I don’t do very well with separations. It’s not that I get separation anxiety or anything, it’s that my tear ducts get overly active. :( Jackie left for Boston in the wee hours of her brother’s birthday. We spent some time with her a few hours before her departure, and it wasn’t until we actually hugged “see-ya” that it felt almost real. Right now, it still feels unreal except for talking to her while she’s on a bus, in the snow, on her way to school. Heh. Also, having to part ways with my cousin and her family was difficult. Geez! We both tried really hard not to cry, but that was too difficult… or maybe the wind was so strong that it got into our eyes a little too much. Regardless, we’ll continue what we are used to doing — keeping in touch via Facebook, Skype, and the telephone.
hm.
Now, my room is back to normal, the house is quiet, and I have to go back to the daily biz at work. Back to reality. LIFE… it’s so funny.
