Ladies and gentlemen, your 2010 World Series Champions - the San Francisco Giants!
It has been a few days since we won it all, but I am still lost for words when describing the feeling. I mean… it’s freakin’ amazing and definitely never “too much awesome.” The Giants are the world champs! Whaaat?!
Growing up a Giants fan has had its ups and downs — well, you know! Thrilling and exciting but quite heartbreaking as well. I remember hating the Marlins, Braves, Mets, and of course the Dodgers because they would be the ones to eliminate my Giants. The Cubs too, but they were in a much longer drought than we were… ok, I still didn’t like them because they eliminated my team. Who remembers that amazing record the Giants had in 1993 that did not even put us in the playoffs? Yup, believe it… the Wild Card playoff spot was two years too late (given that baseball was cut short in ‘94). UGH!! In fifth grade, I remember going to school after a vacation feeling like someone stole my favorite toy and knew exactly who it was. “Those stupid Marlins.” Then along with a new ballpark, the century turned and so did the Giants… so I thought! In 2002 when we made it to the World Series and lost to the freakin’ Angels. They were known as the Anaheim Angels then, but still… we had the chance to take it all in game 6, then game 7, then we we we we… lost. The team that was built to win it all… lost. I remember not wanting to go to Disneyland for Halloween that year because I didn’t want to see celebration. Yes, I was bitter & broken. :( Then I hated the Marlins all over again the following year because they took us out, again. Then… I waited… said bye to Bonds… and waited… earned enough money to buy my own tickets to the game instead of relying on mom and dad… still waited… it felt like forever… until all of a sudden, the wait is finally over.
The San Francisco Giants are the 2010 World Series Champions! It really could not have happened in a more “magical” way. This group of guys were so much fun to watch! I spent more money than many think I should have, but I didn’t give a damn. I loved these guys, and I felt like they rewarded me and the whole Giants fan-base. I finally know what it feels like to win.
It feels amazing. Thank you, 2010 SF Giants! :)
